Scolari "was" a great coach. Under him Brazil won the 2002 world cup with the most dominating performance (7-0 win record which is the best in world cup history). Then he took the challenge with Portugal and took them to the top-4 in 2006. But he is getting older and had a false sense of invincibility after the confederation cup win. We now know all those "champions" form that tournament - Spain, Mexico etc. didn't fair so well against the likes of Germany and Netherlands.

I will say though, despite all the breakdown and catastrophic loss in the end, Brazil had a better world cup than the last two. The top 4 team in the semis were the best teams of the tournament. Ya'll saw how the Netherlands destroyed Spain 5-1 and Germany destroyed Portugal 4-0 even before the knock-out stages. They were clearly favorites to win the cup and it was only because of a great players like Messi that Argentina vs. Germany final was possible and was a very competitive match.

Brazil still maintained a high success in World Cup tournaments but Scolari will be replaced and they will have to re-think their approach against the best teams.
