Tagore was highly influenced by Padma.....as a result he even built a house at Shilaidaha Kushtia. His love for Padma must be reflected in his songs/poems, may not be in words but in mood/rhythm of it. Guardian guy could have had spent a lot of time along the banks of seine....to be able to quickly relate the feelings to that....
Riverside feelings could be quiet similar.
