living in australia when shakib signed for bbl they did a full proper outdoorsy type press conference and they never really do that for overseas players. They even had news articles saying is shakib the best cricketer in the world due to having great stats with both bat and ball.
He might have not been known by majority of Australians living in Aus but he was getting wraps for his performances by commies and the media. In no way shape or form was he ever being laughed at.
