My inclination would be the pitches became flatter in one year. Probability of this happening is higher than the other two. The run fest is unreal.
That indicates the pitches were more sporting before - which we know is largely not true. Pitches have always been flat in BD. Not a terrible idea since you want our players to first become competent at home (where we play 75% of our int'l fixtures). Why worry about a greentop when we will only play there once in 20 years?

More important is working on orthodox batting technique which leaves you suited for ALL conditions. Tendulkar and Dravid honed their games on these same sort of pitches and yet were suited for all conditions. Not everyone can be a SRT or RD, but you can work on your game and get a solid orthodox technique.

You won't see South Africans or New Zealanders clamoring for a few dustbowls so their players can tackle Indian conditions better. Williamson is a master of spin bowling on the green, swinging conditions of NZ.

Yes, we still need a wide variety of conditions across domestic venues, but discounting runs completely due to a flat pitch is not really fair. You still have to bat with discipline and mental application to score no matter how flat the pitch or how weak the bowling. You and I wouldn't even score 20 runs on these wickets. And we know sports is 90% mental...if they get in the habit of scoring big and consistent on flat pitches at home, they will have some degree of "success" in foreign conditions as well.
