Overall improvement in fielding takes time. With the new generation in and old generation out (Bashar, Raz) we are getting better. The amount of drop catches in SL'an game was mind boggling. Sitters missing was painful to watch. Anamul who is a keeper, Mominul, Taskin letting go balls between his legs, and there were so many more. Jumping the gun or anticipation is lacking big time.

As the saying goes, Holding your catches will win you the game. For our case, at least, be competitive with the big boys.

Running between the wickets is never practiced. Net practice doesn't give you that dimension. Good thing Haturi had the vision to practice running between the wickets in the WC preparation creating match like situations. Still there were so much confusion in the real game. Yes go, no, Yes, no. I mean come on. Hesitation builts in when you can't trust your partner.

I understand this skill is harnessed in the domestic leagues. But our diamond boys don't play them often.

Where as other teams are converting ones to twos (backing up), twos to threes - we are declining singles. Anamul's ROCK SOLID forward defense was funny. Keeping wickets is the primary target but losing the plot in the process don't do you any good. Play the ball on its merit. Defend if you must. But then again you must look for opportunity to rotate the strike. That's the only time a right-hand left-hand opening pair puts pressure on the opposing bowler to have his line proper.

The fitness level of Tamim and some others are just jaw dropping. Lets take up a donation for Tamim and buy him a combol (blanket).
