TE, I think the comments on overcoaching is also true. It prevents players from just going free (especially the forwards in soccer). Sometimes you have to let the players make their own mistakes and learn from them. In American sports like Basketball / Football a coach can take a timeout and discuss issues. Perhaps that's where the culture of overcoaching in soccer comes from. But you can't really do that in soccer. They best you can do is yell at the top of your lungs if your team is doing bad and hope your troops will listen.
