People are desensitized to basic decency and traditional articles of adab. Flashing wealth coupled with a cavalier attitude towards addiction, relationships and power relations for the sake of "modernity" hides deep self loathing, anger and indignation just under the surface, and is quite commonplace in Dhaka, especially in the ignorant wasteland of Gulshan-Banani-Baridhara. Our addiction Bollywood crass, plagiarism and overall vulgarity is definitely a contributing factor IMHO. Too many of these dangerously misguided kids think of themselves as @$$clown Khan on designer drugs with a gun.
