The first cricketer from an ICC associate nation to take 25 ODI wickets,
Hasib is one of the most experienced Bangladeshi bowlers in terms of
overs
completed. Bowls out-swing to the right hander with a nice high
action but
is handicapped by lack of real pace (would probably only be classified
as a
medium pacer outside the Subcontinent) and a tendency to be wayward
and
expensive. With a number of other young Bangladeshi seamers now
scrapping for a national team place, Hasib's position is no longer as secure
as it used to be and an indifferent first-class domestic season in 2000-2001
hasn't helped him much either.
He does manage to strengthen the tail with his batting, though his
statistics suggest that he is more of a keen eyed biffer than someone
with
real allround potential. Particularly spirited cameo innings
include an
eleven ball 22 against England 'A' in 1999 and a breezy unbeaten 28
against
India in Bangladesh's first Test, (three fours and a six). |
