Promising seamer who is pacier than Hasib-ul-Hussein and is the first
Hindu
to represent Bangladesh at the highest level. Took 3/33 against
England 'A'
in the autumn of '99 and 3/43 against South Africa U-19 in the 1999-2000
Youth World Cup. Also played an important role in Bangladesh
U-19's only
victory over a team from a Test country in that tournament, taking
2/21 in
ten overs against Zimbabwe U-19.
His lack of international exposure made him a surprise choice for Bangladesh's
first Test but the eighteen year old bowled tidily enough on a pitch unhelpful
to seam bowling, picking up his first Test wicket - that of Indian opener
Sandagopan Ramesh. Firmly rooted to number eleven in the order. |
