Naimur Rahman Durjoy
Career  Sketch by Miran Rahman

Initially emerged as more of a utility cricketer than a genuine allrounder.
Rahman bowls useful - though rarely destructive - off breaks, fields nimbly
and contributes the odd quick thirty or forty with the bat.  A surprise
choice as captain in August 2000, it will be hard to see what extra he can
continue to squeeze out of the limited talent available to him, despite his
pledge to make Bangladesh play more "aggressively".  He certainly led from
the front in his country's first Test, defying his "bits-and-pieces player"
reputation and claiming the best analysis to be achieved by a bowler in the
first innings of his nation's inaugural Test.

Career highlights:
  • 6/132 in 44.3 overs in Bangladesh's inaugural Test against India in 2000
  • 48 in the fifth test against Sri Lanka in September 2001
  • 52 in one-dayer against South African Invitation XI in 2000
  • 121 and two wickets in three day match against the MCC in 2000
  • 51 off 41 balls in day-nighter against Australian Academy XI in 2001
