We Demand to Get Gordon Greenidge Back F Waliullah The Only Satisfaction that came out in 'Bangladesh' versus 'Rest of the World' i.e., Kenya was the appreciation of foreign media that neither Kenya nor Bangladesh has shown any 'supreme authority' in the match. Bangladesh had a mere 1 percent chance of winning today's match - before a single ball was bowled, but with the good bowling by at first Monjurul Islam, then Tapash Baisya and then lastly, however most interestingly, when Khaled Mahmud, the highest wicket taker for Bangladesh in One Day Internationals has come into bowl; Bangladesh's chances of winning the match started to rise by 2% with every Kenyan wicket that had fallen; until catches were starting to be dropped, first by Al Shahriar, then two catches dropped by Khaled Mashud, and then Alok Kapali later. Anybody who knows simple mathematics, can say that 80 odd runs for the loss of 5 wickets is a much better thing than 124 for the loss of 5 wickets. And those first two dropped catches by Al Shahriar and Mashud has costed us the match dearly. After this loss, Khaled Mashud does not have to quit from captancy, because he is already fired. Whether the board wants to stick to him - that is a different matter. Khaled Mashud is fired from captancy from the hearts of millions of Bangladeshi cricket fans. Now the demand for West Indian great Gordon Greenidge has to increase. With his coming into Bangladesh, if Bangladesh's bowling strenght weakens then so be it, because by then Mohsin Kamal will have no choice but to go back to his country. We do not need a bowling coach to have taken over the job of a national coach. For the short term, my personal opinion is that the board is not obliged to give the rightful money that our players have earned. Because the only thing that our players have earned is shame. But it is not the fault of only the coach, captain or the team manager. We will come into that topic later on. Because now we have plenty of time to do discuss about that. The money that the players should have been given if Bangladesh had won at least a single match in the world cup, this money should be given to first of all - Gordon Greendige to become our national coach. Ofcourse, only the inclusion of Gordon Greenidge in Bangladesh's future plans will not be adequate for Bangladesh. The Bangladesh FORMER captain Khaled ashud has said before they went to tour Namibia that there is no adequate practice facilities. This is a long term job for the board. And long term meaning the time period that the present government is in. Also there was a huge wastage of money on getting Akram Khan back. It would have been worth it to get him back if a few of our original world cup squad had performed with the bat at the right time. But unfortunately that did not happen. Frankly, getting Akram Khan back means looking backwards. We do not need that right now. We will also not going to discuss about what happened in the match. What we need to discuss now is what we need to do now. We must get our confidence level up initially and then we must build up a good reputation for ourselves. We certainly do not need to be labelled as 'CHOKERS'. We must build that reputation in order to influence the umpires - neutral foreign umpires to give decisions our way. It can make a huge difference in a very close match. If we had a good reputation, then the Sri Lankan umpire Asoka De Silva might not have given Ashraful out leg before - even though he edged the ball back into his stumps. What the Mohsin Kamal - Khaled Mashud combination has done best so far is that they have spoken too much and has not shown that on the field. For the moment, we need somebody who can show it on the field rather than speak about it to any media or any person.
