World Cup Candidates
F Waliullah
With only one tour left before the world cup that is the West Indies
tour, lets look at our players who are probables for being in the world
cup squad.
Openers:
1. Hannan Sarkar - In form specialist opening batsman
2. Al Shahriar - Successful in Test matches as an opener but unsuccessful
in One Dayers. Makeshift opening batsman
3. Javed Omar Belim - Currently having a bad time since his injury. Specialist
opening batsman
4. Mehrab Hussain - Out of form, specialist opening batsman
5. Mohammad Ashraful - Too wreckless but a useful leg spinner, he says
that he is more comfortable against pace bowlers and yet his big scores
came against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka - one of the best spin bowling team.
It is not yet know whether he is best suited as an opening batsman or
as a middle order batsman or just as an allrounder.
Middle Order:
1. Alok Kapali - Good for the Number 6 position, if he is promoted batting
up the order like in number four or five, he has always failed, an allrounder,
yet he has not been bowled his full allotted 10 overs in One Dayers much
2. Habibul Bashar - Sometimes plays irresponsibly
3. Sanwar Hossain - Slow and Stewart Law of Bangladesh, his only success
in the One Dayers is one fifty against Zimbabwe.
4. Al Shahriar - Irresponsible and has not batted in the middle order
for a long time
5. Mohammad Ashraful - Wreckless and irresponsible but bowls useful leg
spinners by taking wickets
6. Tushar Imran - Bad form in South Africa against South Africa
7. Aminul Islam - Experienced, yet inconsistent
8. Khaled Mashud - Weakness against pace attack, but an allrounder with
the keeping being his main job.
9. Akram Khan - Out of form and not a good fielder
10. Naimur Rahman - Bad patch / out of form with the ball and recently
with the bat.
All rounders:
1. Alok Kapali - Cannot bowl well to be the fifth bowler in one day games
2. Khaled Mahmud - A thirty - run scorer at best and does not have much
pace in bowling
3. Tapash Baisya - Gives away too many runs in bowling
4. Mohammad Ashraful - Can't bat responsibly enough and does not bowl
regularly, gives away too many runs in bowling, yet he takes the odd wickets
whenever given the ball in his hands
5. Enamul Haque - Too old
6. Mohammad Rafique - Inconsistent
Bowlers:
1. Monjurul Islam - Usually can't take wickets with the ball in hand
2. Hasibul Hussain - Experienced yet gives away too many runs
3. Talha Jubair - Gives away too many runs in bowling but takes wickets
4. Fahim Muntasir - Can't bat
5. Mashrafe Bin Murtoza - Recovery from injury is not yet confirmed
